Michael took me to our favourite hotel in Thirsk and chose one of the beautifully themed rooms, when we opened the door we were greeted with champagne and flowers which I thought was a lovely touch to turn around to him on one knee!
What advice would you give to any future bride currently planning their wedding?
I loved creating Pinterest boards and attending wedding shows for ideas but try not to stress, your day will be totally perfect, I’m such an organised person and finally realised on the day if something doesn’t go as you expect it doesn’t matter, nobody will know any different, it will still be the day you’ve always dreamt.
What is the one thing in your opinion every bride needs on her wedding day?
Her maid of honour by her side, mine was amazing touching up my makeup for photos, sorting my dress, holding my flowers, and taking care of anything I needed!
What was the biggest pain point when planning your wedding and how did you overcome this?
We didn’t really have a pain point but it was slightly different to a wedding in the UK as we had a wedding planner at the hotel who we contacted via email and didn’t meet until we arrived. It meant we had to put so much trust in her from a 4-hour meeting but she did the best job, better than we could have imagined!
How did you choose your suppliers?
We chose our photographer straight away knowing him for 5 years and his previous work we had no doubt we’d ask him to fly to Mexico with us for our big day, I had to do a lot of research using social media platforms for the others not being able to meet them in person, but they were all amazing!

I was recommended Sarah by a colleague and she really was the most amazing helpful lady, putting together mood boards for me to choose from and giving her personal recommendations based on my dress. I chose the Georgina comb and the Crystal Huggie Pearls which I especially love as you can use again for day wear removing the pearl element! The jewellery was sent in a beautiful gift bag and the smell upon opening was divine. Her attention to detail and overall service helped the choosing of my wedding jewellery one of the easiest things to sort. Would recommend SV to any bride!
