Kimberley & Michael - 21.05.2022

Kimberley and Michael got married this May at the beautiful Parlour at Blagdon in Newcastle, North East just a stones throw from Northumberland (the hometown of SV). Kimberley looked stunning and chose to wear our Audrey comb and styled her bridesmaids using the matching Audrey pins. It looked a beautiful day...PS check out the colour scheme, we LOVE the pop of colour!

Tell us about you...

Name: Kimberley Lyon

Wedding Date: 21st May 2022

Location of Wedding: The Parlour at Blagdon

Tell us your proposal story…

Michael proposed to me on holiday in Mexico, we had booked to go to a private restaurant on the beachfront in our resort, we had a lovely steak dinner and as the sun was setting in front of us over the water he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!

What advice would you give to any future bride currently planning their wedding?

Do what’s right for you! It's your special day together and you need to do what you want to do, don’t let others influence your decisions. If you don’t want kids there, then don’t! If you don’t want to spend lots of money, then don’t! It’s your wedding at the end of the day, what you say goes!

What is the one thing in your opinion every bride needs on her wedding day?

A relaxing morning! Our ceremony was at 2:30 but we all started to get ready at 6:30am. Doing this allowed for plenty of time to get everyone ready, we had loads of time to get everything packed up and into the cars to get to the venue and we had plenty of time for breakfast and a cuppa, the whole morning was just so relaxed and stress-free, no last minute rushes or blind panic’s. I really do think this gave myself and my bridesmaids some much-needed time to relax before the wedding kicked off!

What was the biggest pain point when planning your wedding and how did you overcome this?

I think my own indecisiveness was the most problematic part of our wedding planning, I couldn’t decide what colour scheme I wanted which obviously isn’t great when you’re trying to get bridesmaid dresses, flowers, décor etc sorted well in advance. I tried to work out what would be best for our wedding with my husband and we couldn’t decide at all. In the end I just talked about it with one of my lovely suppliers Karen who was decorating our venue and doing my flowers, she told me to use Pinterest and search for flowers that are in season in May and then add whichever ones I liked to a board and revisit that board in a week or two and remove whichever pictures I no longer liked, and to do this a few times until I am happy, this really helped me a lot and we ended up going with the most beautiful & bright colour palette!

How did you choose your suppliers?

Our venue had wedding fairs & recommended suppliers which were really helpful at the beginning to see what’s actually out there. We had friends who had recently gotten married that also recommended some of their suppliers. And we also used social media & Google to help us find suppliers that were local to us and the venue itself! There are plenty of options out there to help you find exactly what you’re looking for. Social media is a great tool for choosing suppliers because you can actually see their work properly before enquiring about pricing etc.

Tell us about your experience with Sarah Vuong...

I found Sarah on social media when I was looking for hair accessories after buying my dress. I had a specific Idea in mind that I wanted and Sarah had the exact item that I was picturing In my head! My dress had leaf-shaped lace stitched all over the dress and I wanted to continue this theme in to my accessories if I could. I found the Audrey petite comb and Instantly fell In love with it, she also had matching pins which I thought would be perfect for my bridesmaids too so we all had matching accessories but not identical. They all arrived beautifully packaged, each with a dust bag to hold the pins/comb in and a gift bag for each Item which was amazing, it all felt very luxurious and special. A note was included in the box which made it feel very personal and not to mention the whole box smelt amazing too! The quality of the pieces are amazing, they’re flexible enough to move around and fit exactly where you need them to but not flimsy at all, they’re very well made, high-quality materials, no tarnishing/rusting at all while they were sitting In my cupboards waiting for the big day. 10/10 for everything, I would highly recommend Sarah to anyone!
